Foundation pillow

The foundation pillow is an assembly composed of the reinforced concrete foundation slab, thermal insulation and waterproofing. All its layers are permanently joined into a whole.

Contemporary energy efficient buildings are constructed without thermal bridges. This means that the entire building is protected with a continuous and durable thermal insulation envelope. An important factor of the protective envelope is the foundation pillow.

For such demanding applications, the thermal insulation must be tested and approved for use under permanent loads, such as with the ETA – European Technical Assessment.
